Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
