Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have encountered a variety of entertaining independent titles. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a character that is truly a piece of poop striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a one button to leap. In 150 levels, battle tough enemies and visit a store to buy outfits for your dung hero.
Time your actions with caution, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Leap on bubbles to hurl your character upward, navigate disappearing ledges, and interact with buttons to open secret routes. Earn currency for buying more difficult game content where gameplay ramps up.
Visually, the demo features vibrant environments and an amazing soundtrack. The simple graphics with moving basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
While it's tough to think of other games where you play as a coiled turd, gaming often featured fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content is present heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already earned impressive awards, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is available currently on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on PC this November.
