It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
